Review: Greetingflix.com
Greetingflix is another great way to share your photos with your friends and relatives. This time, instead of passing around individual pictures, you assemble your photos into great little movies which you can share. Greetingflix provided Super Cool Baby with a free pro-version of their service with which to conduct our review.
Signing up for the website was very simple. We provided our contact info, and we were immediately able to create any number of flix using the free templates. To start creating a new flix, you pick the template you want to use. The templates are sorted by occasion. For example, "Baby Announcement," "Happy Holidays," "Valentines Day," etc. Next, you upload your photos into a photo album. Then, when you're assembling your movie, you pick the pictures you want displayed and the order in which you want them displayed. Its all very simple and straight-forward.
For best results, I recommend making your flix using Internet Explorer on a Windows PC. I first attempted using Firefox on a Macintosh and was unable to complete the process. After contacting the folks at Greetingflix, they assure me that they know what the problem is and they're actively working to fix it.
Greetingflix is available in two flavors, the free version which currently includes 8 different movie templates, and the pro version which includes the 8 free templates, plus more pro-only templates. Right now there are only two pro-version templates, but Greetingflix is planning on having a total of 50 templates by the end of the year. With the free version, Greetingflix provides 20 megabytes of storage space. They are planning on increasing this to 50 megabytes in the near future. The pro version includes 1 gigabyte of space. I found that the 20 megabytes is enough for about 1 movie, so the free version is a great way to try the service out!
