Review: Soaker Pads
You might remember the Soaker Pad that I wrote about last month. Hip Baby was kind enough to send us a sample to try out! I have become a big fan of lap pads like this because they have so many great uses. This one is a large three foot square, so it could be used to change your baby on (every time I travel, one of these pads is my changing table), to protect your bedding and mattress if you breastfeed in bed (done that too!), or have your baby sit on it for naked time (done that too during a bad diaper rash incident a few months ago). I really don't know where I'd be without lap pads. Big ones like this can also be cut up into smaller sections if you have a need for smaller ones too. I have a few small ones on my changing table as make-shift changing table pads. This was great when Andy was younger and had many messy dirty diapers that got everywhere.
The Soaker Pad is an extra special pad because it can hold up to two cups of liquid, which is a pretty large amount if you ask me! We received the blue one. It has little ducks, frogs, and turtles all over on the quilted side, which is quite soft. The other side is a white vinyl. We like how each side is different so you can choose which to use depending on what you are using it for. It's also machine washable.
I did try putting the two cups of water on the pad. Some of it soaked in while the rest sat on top. None of it leaked through though. It was easy to pick it up and pour it into the sink. But thinking about it, if my son suddenly went to the bathroom and this much came out of him, I'd take him to the doctors because he'd have a super human bladder. Two cups is a lot of liquid! I then washed the Soaker Pad to see what it looked like afterwards. It looked great afterwards, just as it did when I received it in the mail.
This is a great product for any new parent. Buy it as a gift or get it for yourself if you didn't receive one yourself. You may not realize how much you need it until it's too late!
