Review: Strollometer

I received the Strollometer for Christmas and was so excited. I first heard about it in October, and I knew it was for me. I have wanted to get into shape ever since I gave birth, but I just can't get myself to do my pilates video. Living up in Boston, it was hard to walk in January, and then once we moved to Charlotte I was just too overwhelmed to walk around our apartment complex. But now that we live in a house in a neighborhood, suddenly all I want to do is walk and explore! So I finally got out the Strollometer, had Peter install it (because yes, I am not the biggest feminist all the time), and I started using it. And I must say, I love love love this product!

Let me tell you a bit about it. There's a magnet that you install at the wheels and a sensor you place right above it that will track how far and how fast you are going. It installs pretty easily as long as you pay attention to the directions, which are pretty good. There's then another piece with a screen that you put somewhere you can see it easily. This will tell you the current, maximum and average speed of the trip, the distance of the trip, daily mileage, trip time, the current time, and the temperature. You hit a button below the screen which will show you all of these in turn. If you are like me and don't want to see how you are doing until you are done with your walk, you can fold the screen back. It also can come out of the mount too.

There are just two things you must remember about the Strollometer. You should check to make sure it's working before starting any trip. Sometimes you must adjust the parts around the wheel for it to transmit. Also, you must hit the button below the screen at the beginning of your trip for it to start. I've made that mistake where I sneak in a look to see how long I've been walking, and it doesn't say anything because I forgot to start it.

The Strollometer is available in three color combinations: black/green, black/lavendar, and blue/black. It won the JPMA Innovation Award in 2006 as well as the iParenting Media Award. If you are a walker or are looking to lose some weight with a stroller in hand, this is the perfect gadget for you. I cannot recommend it enough!
