Snopes

I realize that Snopes, a reference page for urban legends, isn't what you'd typically think of when parenting websites come to mind. However, I think it's an important resource that we shouldn't forget. Recently, I heard about a child who was injured because she drank hand sanitizer. It sounded like one of those silly forwards that someone starts just to cause fear. But low and behold, it was actually true! Snopes is a great place to check those things out to see if they are true or just falsities. And they cover everything too, from old wives tales to pregnancy. Another one to keep in mind: some brands of sidewalk chalk have lead in them!
