Review: WaddaJuice

Recently, we received a sample of WaddaJuice here at Super Cool Baby. The word from the manufacturer is

WaddaJuice is a great tasting all natural beverage for kids that has half the sugar and calories of 100% fruit juice. We?ve blended pure fruit juice with purified water and fortified it with vitamins and minerals to create a better juice for kids. WaddaJuice is nutritious and simple - no added sweeteners, flavors, dyes, preservatives or additives - absolutely nothing artificial.

We received all three flavors to taste: Apple, Wild Berry, and White Grape. I tasted each before I gave them to the Official Juice Reviewer (our son Anderson). They definitely don't taste like your regular sugar-loaded juice. The added calcium seems to affect the flavor a little bit, but our Official Reviewer loved them nonetheless: the first time we gave it to him, he had finished the whole bottle within about 10 minutes.

There are lots of things to like about WaddaJuice. They're a good size at 8 fluid ounces. There's not too much sugar; it's basically watered down juice, which is exactly what we give to Anderson anyway. It's calcium fortified so we don't feel guilty that he's not drinking milk. The no-spill top was excellent at containing the juice. And all the different juices don't seem like they would stain at all.

There were a few things that bothered me though. The bottle is really hard to reuse, as the cap is nearly impossible to get off. I had to struggle for several minutes, and felt like I was about to break it in order to remove one of the caps. This can be a good thing, since Anderson will definitely never get a cap off, but if I wanted to refill it with my own juice concotion, it can be a bit of a challenge. The bottles are also a little hard to recycle for the same reason. Anderson would always leave a little juice left in the bottle, and since where we live marterials to be recylced have to be cleaned out, I ended up throwing them away in the trash. And finally, WaddaJuice is a little hard to find in stores. Luckily, you can buy it online and in bulk at Costco stores.

All in all, WaddaJuice was a big hit in our house. They're a convenient take-along drink, and they're good for your child too. If I see them in stores, I'll definitely be picking up several to keep for trips in the car!
