Fisher-Price Papasan Cradle Swing

A swing is definitely indispensible when you've got a newborn in the house. This Fisher-Price Papasan Cradle Swing will definitely give you a place to keep your little one occupied while you get a few moments to do important things like eat and bathe. This papasan cradle will swing front to back and side to side for a little variety (although honestly your baby is probably one or the other, but its definitely nice to have options). The nest-like seat will keep your baby comfortable in its soft multi-textured materials. Above there's a motorized mobile that incorporates 3 different characters. And a neat feature that I hadn't heard of before is a mirrored globe that lets your baby see all over. The swing holds up to 24 pounds.

Wallcandy Arts Tulips

wallcandyartstulips.gif

It took me a while to warm up to artwork that sticks right to the wall, probably because the house we lived in when we first had Andy had textured walls that it wouldn't work on. Now I love the idea and think there are so many beautiful designs out there perfect for a nursery. Check out these Tulips for example. Each kit has 48 flowers. They are 13 inches tall and there are bright pink, light pink, and yellow flowers. They are removeable, and you can have them go across a room, bunch them up, or whatever you want to create something unique just for your baby.

Catch Bowl

catchbowl.jpg

We're trying to teach Andy how to feed himself right now. It's hard, mostly because I hate to have him covered in food. He always has stains going down his front when he tries to use his utensils on his own. The Catch Bowl is a great idea because it'll help with that problem at least a little. The bowl is designed with an extended lip so that it catches a lot of the food as it falls off the spoon or fork and funnels it back into the bowl. It also suctions to the table, so your child won't be able to pick it up and dump it on the ground, which we've dealt with once or twice. Also check out the Benders Adaptable Utensils, which have handles that you can adjust to match your child's grip.

Tub-Time Bumpers

tubtimebumper.jpg

I was always fearful of the bath with Andy. He quickly outgrew the Primo Eurobath because he was such a large little guy, and so we had a problem. Do we squeeze him in there or put him in the bath tub and hope he doesn't slip and hit his head o the tub? I wish we'd known about the Tub-Time Bumper. It is a bumper made for the tub, with suctions that secure to the tub walls. It is made of rugged vinyl, has graphics of letters and shapes, and is soft and safe. If you worry about the transition to a real tub, this will ease your mind that much more.

Up to 20% off Bugaboo Strollers at Amazon

I don't know if I could ever spend this much money on a stroller, but I've found that you definitely get what you pay for when it comes to a high-quality stroller. So maybe Bugaboo's are really that fantastic. In any case, Amazon.com is offering up to [20% off lots of Bugaboo strollers](http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/?docId=1000242771&tag=jaybrewernet25-20) like this Bugaboo Cameleon through the end of July. The Bugaboo Cameleon is extremely comfortable thanks to the adjustable handlebar and swivel wheels with adjustable suspension. With its small swivel wheels in front, the Cameleon is very easy to maneuver and ideal for busy cities and shopping. Large wheels in front (and, if needed, locked swivel wheels) eliminate the hard work when walking over rough terrain in the woods. On the beach, it is a breeze to pull the through the sand, thanks to its unique two wheel position. Best of all, the Bugaboo Cameleon is delivered as a complete stroller, so you don't have to assemble it.

Get $40 back when you purchase any Philips Avent at Amazon

We've written about this cool looking Philips Avent Digital Baby Monitor before. Not only does it look really cool, but it promises zero interference or static from any other device (including other baby monitors, cordless phones, and cell phones). Until July 31, if you buy this monitor or any other [Philips Avent product](http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/?docId=1000242321&tag=jaybrewernet25-20) (totalling $139 or more), you'll get $40 back to spend later at Amazon.com. Also through the end of July, if you, your friends or your family complete $750 of purchases from your [Amazon.com Baby Registry](http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fgp%2Fbaby%2Fhomepage&tag=jaybrewernet25-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325) Amazon will give you [six months of Seventh Generation diapers for free](http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/?docId=1000245631&tag=jaybrewernet25-20)! That's definitely a great deal for any expectant mothers, as you go through *a lot* of diapers in those first six months.

CC3 Cozy Carrier Blanket

cc3cozycarrierblanketset.gif

The CC3 Cozy Carrier Blanket Set reminds me a little of the Baby Bjorn, but much more comfortable looking. This carrier allows the baby to either face you or face away, but it's more of a sack than others I've seen. It wraps the baby in a blanket, and there's even a hood that can cover her head when she's facing you and a hat for when she faces away. Another great feature is a front pocket that is perfect for a pacifier or your keys. It fits babies up to 36 inches long, is made of 100% cotton flannel, and is available in three color combinations: charcoal/persimmon, charcoal/olive, and cream/olive. This is a great gift for anyone giving birth this fall for those cooler winter months.

World of Dragon Flip Book by Haba

habadragonflipbook.jpg

I can't help but love books that are 3D and have textures for Andy. But what about when you aren't reading to them? The World of Dragon Flip Book by Haba is a great book for those instances as it has bright colors and fuzzy textures, but as there are no words, it's great for a baby to play with. You can save the ones with words for those times when you sit down, but this could be a great book all for your baby. The book can be flipped open from both sides, and this one has a fun dragon theme. Also check out the Summer Day Flip Book and the Let's Get Going Flip Book if dragons are your style.

Thermometers made easy with the Exergen TemporalScanner

Temporal Scanner Thermometer

Like many parents we heard that the best way to take the temperature of a baby was with a rectal thermometer. Oral thermometers aren't very effective, and forehead temperature strips are notoriously inaccruate. I wish we had heard of the Exergen TemporalScanner before now. We just received one of these thermometers and it is so incredibly easy to use. You just press it against the forehead, press the button, and slowly move it over the temple and into your child's hairline. (If you're child is sweating, you instead take a reading on the skin just behind their ear).

There have been a number of medical studies that prove that this kind of temperature reading is nearly as accurate as the rectal thermometer, and more accurate than the ear thermometers.

With its patented Arterial Heat Balance system, the TemporalScanner measures ambient temperatures, mathematically replaces the small temperature loss from cooling at the skin, and displays and accurate arterial temperature.

Under normal circumstances, arterial temperature is close to rectal temperature, but almost a degree Fahrenheit higher than an oral temperature, and 2 degrees Fahrenheit higher than underarm temperature.

It goes without saying that you probably won't spend nearly as much time cleaning this thermometer off when you're done, and you won't have a squirming screaming child to deal with as you wait for your thermometer to register its reading. This thermometer is so quick and easy, you can take a temperature whenever you want.

In addition to Babies R' Us, the Exergen TemporalScanner is also available at Walgreens and Costco.

Bin-Go by Skip Hop

skiphopbingo.jpg

We think that Bin-Go, a new product from Skip Hop, is a great idea. It's a stylish canvas box that is strong enough to hold a lot of stuff and folds flat when you aren't using it. It is a great idea for a toy basket for your baby's first toys. And it's easy on the eyes, so you can use it for yourself later on. It also has large circle handles and a lightweight frame so you can tote it from room to room or even to another house entirely! If the large storage bin is a little too big for you at 16.75 x 12.5 x 12.5 when open, there's also the smaller table top organizer, which is virtually the same thing.

Sun Smarties Line at One Step Ahead

sunsmartiescabanatent.jpg

There are a bunch of great baby items for the summer at One Step Ahead in their Sun Smartie line that we want to show you a few of them at once. First up is the Family Beach Cabana Tent. It is a large tent that you can set up on the beach or anywhere else where you want a spacious place for your baby to play out in the sun. It provides UPF 50+ protection, has ventilation panels, zippered flaps, and roll down shades so you can have privacy and control how much air you allow in, and it opens and folds down easily. A carry bag and anchor stakes are provided.

sunsmartiescanopytent.jpg

If you're looking more for a canopy and not a tent, there's the Canopy Tent. This also has the UPF 50+ protection, and it works great over sand and water tables, a backyard pool, picnic tables, and more. It has ventilation, takes five minutes to set up, and a storage bag and stakes are included.

sunsmartiesinfantbeachcabanatent.jpg

Finally, there is the Infant Beach Cabana Tent, which is great when you have only one child or an infant that doesn't need that much space. This tent sets up and folds down in seconds, which is especially important since infants shouldn't get much direct sun exposure. It has four sides of mesh paneling, a ventilated roof, and it blocks 98% of UV rays. There's also roll-down privacy shades, storage pockets, anchor spikes, and a bag to carry it in.

Win a "Potty Training Kit" from Huggies

IMG_0104.jpg

Getting ready to potty train? We're starting to think about that here at Super Cool Baby Headquarters. Luckily our friends over at Huggies were kind enough to send us a potty training kit to help us out. It includes "Potty Training Success DVD", a set of rewards stickers, a small purple car, and a pack of Huggies Pull-Ups Cool Alert diapers.

The DVD is a really useful primer on potty training. In "Starting Out", the DVD covers what to have when you start potty training, and covers the signs of readiness. Even if it is a bit of an advertisement for Huggies Pull-Ups, it still contains lots of useful advice about what to do when you're just starting out with your potty training. In "At Home" and "Away From Home" we learn about starting and establishing new routines at home, and when you're out. The DVD covers things like rewards, an Open Door Policy, keeping a consistent routine, and so on. The DVD includes some extras including 2 games, 3 songs, and 4 printable coloring pages. This DVD contains lots of useful advice for any parents who are thinking about starting to potty train. I definitely learned a lot from watching it myself!

If you'd like to win one of these kits, please send an email to newstips@supercoolbaby.com or leave a comment here on this post. We'll pick one winner next monday from all our entrants.

T-Shirts from My Sticks and Stones

Big_TShirt_Flaming Skull.jpg

The folks over at My Sticks and Stones have a great selection of unique onsies, t-shirts, pants, hats, and bibs. This clothing isn't your usual baby blue or pink, but I will agree that it is totally awesome. Their clothing is available from sizes 3-6 months all the way up to 10 years. Just about everything comes in black, and a lot of the shirts come in red and white as well.

Diaper EZ

diaperez.jpg

Even the best diaper pails don't seem to control all of the odor associated with dirty diapers, especially once your baby starts eating solid food. If taking dirty diapers directly out to the garbage outside isn't an option, we've found Diaper EZ. One bottle will treat over 1,000 diapers, and it works with the diaper champ, diaper genie, and other diaper pails. It's also non-toxic and day care tested. It works by spraying the diaper after you remove it from your child. We haven't tried it personally, but it sounds like a great idea!

Taking Charge of Your Fertility

takingchargeofyourfertility.jpg

Today we are looking at not a baby product, but instead something that all women think about: our fertility. Whether you are trying to conceive or trying not too, Taking Charge of Your Fertility is one of those books that every woman should own. This is the stuff that we should have been taught in health class in school so that we know and understand our bodies. What I especially liked about it is how to practice the fertility awareness method. Not too many people know about it, but for us it was wonderful. It helped me get pregnant very quickly after I began trying, and I have friends who use it as their birth control. I know some women have issues with taking hormones as birth control and others have religious issues with it. This is a totally natural way to look at fertility. It is easy to read and understand and practice. There is also information on the menstrual cycle, menopause, and lots of fertility information. If you are trying to conceive, actively trying not to, or just want to know and understand your body, this is a great book to have.

Common Threadz

commonthreadzprotectthewater.jpg

Common Threadz is a t-shirt company with a mission. They will donate a school uniform to a child in need for every garment they sell. This may not seem like an important cause off the bat, but as the founder and executive director Zac Folk states:

For millions of disadvantaged children in developing nations, clothing is something that can either prevent them from an education or provide them with a huge opportunity to change their lives. Through our own line of socially-conscious apparel, CommonThreadz has created a vehicle to help sustain our charities' mission while making what you wear an expression of what matters to you as well as a way to help someone who needs a hand up, not a hand out.

Common Threadz also works with local seamstresses in these nations, so they are also helping with employment issues too. They sell tees for children from 3 months to 4T as well as for both men and women. We really like their designs as well, so if you buy from them you get an awesome tee as well as a good feeling for helping out. Some of our favorites include Protect the Water, Flat World, Water Hat, and Birds at School. Check out their website for more on the company and this important cause.

My First Scrubs

My First Scrubs

Here's a neat idea to help a child prepare for the birth of a new sibling: My First Scrubs by Princess Linens. My First Scrubs are a tiny version of the real scrubs that doctors and nurses wear ever day. Your child will be prepared to "help out" at the hospital. The scrubs are available in sizes up to 4T and in three colors: Lab Green (up to size 8), "No More Blues" Blue, and Candystriper Pink.
