Faux-Shearling Bear Hat

fauxshearlingbearhat.jpg

It's getting cold outside, so dress your baby in style with the Faux-Shearling Bear Hat. It's soft and warm, and it's hard to get much cuter than this. There is a hook and loop closure under the chin to keep it in place. If you prefer, it also comes in chocolate and there are matching booties too.

Happy Tummi

happytummi.jpg

Andy never had colic, but from what we understand, those babies who do are pretty inconsolable. And this makes the parents a wreck. No one wants to hear their child crying, and after a while you'll do anything for some piece of mind. The Happy Tummi is an all natural remedy for colic as well as gas and general fussiness. It is an herbal pack that goes on the baby's stomach. Aromatherapy and it's warmth is what soothes the child. It is adjustable with Velcro, and it only needs to be placed in the microwave for 30 seconds before placing it on your baby. Check out the review of this product. It seems that parents either love it or hate it, with most giving it a favorable view. We can see that it doesn't work on all babies, but it might be worth a try if you can't find any other way to calm your baby down.

Froggy Frenzy by Manhattan Toy

The Froggy Frenzy by Manhattan Toy looks like a great toy for infants. You "feed" this friendly frog by putting one of the 3 soft winged insects in his wide-open mouth - but when you do, this Froggy Frenzy Toy will make a frog sound! If there's one thing I know about babies, its that they love repetitive actions that result in unexpected sounds!

Vintage Prints at Old Vintage Cottage

I really adore the Vintage Prints at Old Vintage Cottage. They are really nice and wholesome, reminding us of Norman Rockwell. Each one is framed in an off white wooden frame. If you're looking to decorate your nursery in a timeless fashion, this is the way to go!

Good Nite Lite

goodnitelite.jpg

Children who wake up too early can be a really frustrating issue for many parents. Ideally we want to teach our children how to sleep well on their own, but they don't always understand when they should get up, especially when they are quite young. An easy way to help them learn and understand when they should wake up (or on the other end of the spectrum, to help them wake when you need them to), there is the Good Nite Lite. Basically, it is a traditional night light, but it has a built in timer that changes what you see to reinforce regular sleep patterns. During the night, it looks like a moon, and when it is time to wake up in the morning, it brightens into a sun. If your child wakes up too early for the rest of the family or needs to learn to wake up early whether for school or to go to day care, this is a good product for you!

Nosefrida Nasal Aspirator

It's that time of year again. We're already two colds into the season. For some reason Anderson has forgotten how to blow his nose; instead he's trying to "push" the mucous out. Let me tell you, it doesn't work so well. We've tried nasal aspirators in the past but Anderson hates them. The Nosefrida Nasal Aspirator just might work a little better though. I'm not sure exactly how it works, but it sounds like you don't have to jam anything up your child's nose. Its highly recommended by lots of nurses and doctors, and is safe, hygenic, and easily cleanable. Help keep your child's nose clear this year with a Nosefrida Nasal Aspirator.

Bed Bolster To Go

bedbolster.jpg

After dragging our feet for many months, we are finally moving Andy to a toddler bed. We've decided to wait a few weeks until after an upcoming vacation. If you don't have the luxury of waiting to travel when your child is new to sleeping in a bed, I'm sure a worry for everyone involved in falling out of the bed. We've discovered the Bed Bolster To Go. It is a portable bed rail that inflates to it is easy to pack, and it straps onto a twin or full mattress. It is also available in three colors. We're sure everyone would sleep easier with this in bed with your child.

Secure Transitions Baby Tub

securetransitionsbabytub.jpg

One of our biggest issues with our baby tub was that it was a little slippery. It took Andy a long time to feel comfortable sitting up in it since he didn't have the strength to keep himself from sliding around as he tried to sit. The Secure Transitions Baby Tub takes away that issue. This inflatable tub is comfortable for your baby, keeping him safe without him feeling cramped. There is a contoured headrest that helps with shampooing, and it even suctions to the wall when you aren't using it to safe space! There are places to hold your shampoo and rinse cup as well, so they are always right there for you when you need them.

Review: Mrs. Goodbee Talking Dollhouse

Mrs Goodbee Talking Dollhouse

Via our good friends over at Rookie Moms we received a Mrs. Goodbee Talking Dollhouse to review. Mrs. Goodbee is a the product of a new company, Caring Corners, that is designed to that teaches manners, sharing and other good behaviors, including being charitable.

We received the dollhouse in 1 relatively big box, and some accessories in another smaller box. Once we got the dollhouse out of the box, it required a little assembly. We had to attach the front steps, a chimney, and so on. The instructions were very clear on everything you had to do. The only thing that tripped me up was I didn't realize that I didn't have the dollhouse open all the way!

The dollhouse comes with a couple of small accessories: a computer chair, a baby, a puppy, and a little girl. We also received some additional accessories: a grownup "daddy" doll, a reclining sofa, and a TV. The dollhouse itself has lots of interactivity. As you can see in the picture above, the front of the house features the face of Mrs. Goodbee. Mrs. Goodbee's eyes can be closed, and will pop open whenever the doorbell rings. The doorbell is accompanied by Mrs. Goodbee singing a little song, or teaching a short lesson about manners, sharing, or other virtues. Other interactive items include: a crib that makes "cooing" noises, a tooth-brushing sink, a toilet that flushes, a refrigerator, a radio, and a doggy bed.

As part of its mission to teach good manners and charity, there is an online component to Mrs. Goodbee Talking Dollhouse as well. The product literature suggests that you:

With your child, pick some simple activites and responsibilities that she can do, such as: pick up toys, feed the pet, make my bed, brush my teeth, share my toys, hug someone. Whenever she does something that you wish to reinforce, allow her to choose a sticker from this booklet to decorate the back of the Mrs. Goodbee house. There's a surprise under the 'bug stickers!' Whenever she picks one of these, she will find a secret code underneath. Simply go to the Caring Corners website and enter the code.

The code will unlock a special game that's available at the website. As your child continues the good deeds she can do more and more fun games and activities at the website. Additionally, there is a key attached to the porch of the house that also has a special code. This code will unlock even more special games and activities such as:

  • Creating her own friend - choosing hair, eye, skin color, and outfits.
  • Planting seeds, nurturing her garden, and watching it grow!
  • Playing games that reinforce acts of caring, sharing and preparing for real-life responsibilities.

Anderson has been obsessed with the dollhouse since we put it together. He plays with it for at least a few minutes every day, and many days for even longer. Its been a great toy because its really encouraging pretend and imagination play, something at which his other toys haven't been too successful. It may be a coincidency, but since we received Mrs. Goodbee, Anderson has been playing a lot more with the rest of his toys as well.

If you're interested in a new dollhouse, or looking for your child's first, you should definitely consider the Mrs. Goodbee Talking Dollhouse. And don't think that dollhouses are just for girls, even boys really enjoy playing with them!

Teddy Toes Blanket

teddytoesblanket.jpg

The Teddy Toes Blanket is a swaddler blanket that separates the legs, can be used with car seats, strollers, and front carriers, and is made with a warm fleece. I like the versatility of it. You don't need a separate blanket for everything you do. Instead you can use this one for your baby no matter where you go or what you are doing. It is also available in 11 different colors!

Belly Laf

bellylaf.jpg

Belly Laf is a company that designs mitts called Grippees that assist in washing your baby. If you hold your infant when washing him, you probably worry about him slipping out of your hands. These mitts are designed to prevent that. They have silicone gripping dots that are placed on the lower palm of each mitt that help keep your baby in your hands. Each pair of mitts also has a fun design on them, such as a blowfish or whale.

They also have MiniMitts, which are designed for children ages 2-5 to help them learn how to wash themselves. They are thumbless, child sized mitts that go on and off easily and help children learn how to wash in the tub. These also have cute designs on them too. They are definitely great for the toddler who insists on doing everything himself.

The company also gives 10% of profilts to charities that help children with fatal diseases. So you're doing good when you purchase from Belly Laf!

Review: Arbonne Baby Care

Arbonne Baby Care

We've got a friend who is an Arbonne consultant who let us sample the full line of Arbonne Baby Care products. We've used the Hair and Body Wash and Body Oil in the past on the recommendation of our pediatrician. This time we also used the Body Lotion and Herbal Diaper Rash Cream.

Arbonne products are specially formulated to be very gentle to your child's skin. When Andy was younger, he had a persistent rash on his face and arms, and he always had very dry skin on his legs. We started using Arbonne products and the rash quickly cleared up. Arbonne is much more gentle than the other hair and body wash products that we were using, which is very nice if your child has sensitive skin.

The nicest thing about these products is their smell. They all have a very similar fresh herbal smell, including the Diaper Rash Creme, which is a refreshing change. The Diaper Rash Creme and the Body Lotion were both a less viscous than what I was expecting. This made them both a lot easier to spread, but I accidentally dispensed too much before I realized this!

If you're looking for a line of products for your baby's sensitive skin, and don't mind paying a little bit more, then I definitely recommend the line of Arbonne products. You can buy them from your local Arbonne consultant, or online. To order online, please use Consultant ID #17508916. Let her know that you found her on "Super Cool Baby" and you'll receive 25% off your order of $25 of more.

The Teethifier

teethifier.jpg

Teethers worked great with Andy when he was getting his front teeth, but as he started with the ones farther back, they weren't so good anymore. If this is a problem for your child, check out the Teethifier. It easily reaches the back gums, it has a shield to prevent your baby from sticking the entire thing in his mouth, and it is made from FDA-approved materials. Also consider using it as a transitional tool to wean your baby off of pacifiers. It has great reviews, so it looks like it really does work!

Stroller Suspenders

strollersuspenders.jpg

This time of year it's still warm enough to take walks, but in many parts of the country it is a little cool for your child in the stroller. Blankets often fall down and get tangled in your stroller's wheels, getting them dirty. Stroller Suspenders fixes that problem. Using your own blanket, you can strap it to the stroller, so the blanket stays put. It is safe for the baby and won't hurt the fabric of your blanket. The suspenders are available in six patterns.

Tropic Isle ActiviTot Developmental Gym by Tiny Love

tropicislemat.jpg

I've always thought that it's important to have a few fun play mats for your child that offer a lot of interesting things to look and play with. I really like the Tropic Isle ActiviTot Developmental Gym by Tiny Love because it offers lots of variety, so it's almost like having two! The placement of the pillow, toys and arches can be varied, so your baby can use it as he grows but also while in different positions. There are 17 different activities total with toys both hanging and on the mat. I can't get over the palm leaves, they are so fun!

Halloween at Olive Kids

olivekidshalloween.jpg

You may remember Olive Kids from our review earlier this year. They have come out with Halloween products, including in the place mats that we love so much. I'm a big Halloween fan, so I'm very excited about these. Many of them you can personalize. They are a big hit in our household, Andy can't get enough of his place mats.

Juggling Twins: The Best Tips, Tricks, and Strategies from Pregnancy to the Toddler Years

jugglingtwins.jpg

When I first discovered I was pregnant, one of my biggest fears was that I would have twins. I had even convinced myself that I was early on and was terrified of how I would manage in a tiny apartment. I did only have one child in that pregnancy, but when I see my friends who have twins juggling two car seats and double strollers, that panic comes back. If you know someone who has twins or is pregnant with them, a good gift would be Juggling Twins: The Best Tips, Tricks, and Strategies from Pregnancy to the Toddler Years. This book helps parents with such issues as breastfeeding twins, how to deal with getting them in and out of the car easily and safely, how to get them both on the same schedule, when to find time to sleep, and other helpful hints. It is also written by a friend of a friend of ours, which makes it just that more special for us. Try it out and let us know what you think!

A good costume can really turn your Halloween into something special. We've dressed Anderson as Batman and as a Pumpkin. I'm not sure what we're going to do this year, but I hope its something fun like one of these costumes!
