Research shows that bright, colorful toys stimulate baby's senses. This toy also has interesting sounds and textures to keep baby interested. If a little teething comfort is needed, this Busy Planet has got that covered as well. If your planet gets messy, you can just clean it with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Don't you wish you could clean up our own planet so easily?

Kids Beach Tot Wagon Play set

sandbasket.jpg

This time of year I am always looking for unique small items to put in an Easter Basket. I hate the idea of packing it full of candy and sweets. That's why I love it when I come across play sets like this. You can never have enough outdoor toys and kids love them. This set includes a bucket, castle mold, shovel, rake, and a spinning sand mill with stop-and-go latch. All of this is contained in a little red wagon. What more could beach going little one ask for?

New Car Seat Guidelines

camoofl.jpg

Have you heard about the new car seat guidelines? It's recommended that children remain rear facing up to age 3 or until they outgrow the rear facing seat. That's a big change from the old guidelines. If you are confused or need additional information, check out the National Highway Traffic Safety Association website. There is an easy to read 4 step pdf that outlines what exactly is recommended for each stage of your child's development from birth up to 12 years old.

If you are in the market for a new infant car seat, you can choose from a large selection, but I think this Britax Cowmooflage seat is a great choice. First of all, it's so cute!! It can be used for a boy or girl which is perfect if you have more children.

This car seat is more than just stylish. There are tons of safety features. The impact protection distributes crash forces, shields from vehicle intrusion, and keeps the head, neck and spine or aligned to limit injury in the event of an accident. The anti-rebound bar stabilizes the child seat by minimizing the rotational forces associated with front and rear collisions. You will feel comfortable putting your infant in this seat and he will be comfortable riding in it.

Countdown to World Autism Day

1001autism.jpg

April 2 is World Autism Day. I love this day. As a parent of a child on the autism spectrum, I find it is important to find ways to celebrate any victory. There have been so many advancements in autism research, but there is no reason to slow down. Autistic children can achieve great things. Temple Grandin has been in the media a lot lately. She is an internationally known scientist who didn't speak until she was four. It's so important to find the right resources too. If you are looking for guidance you can start with 1001 Great Ideas for Teaching and Raising Children with Autism or Asperger's for ideas to engage an autistic child.

Take some time to thank a teacher who has made a difference in your child's life. These baseball tees are a great reminder of what really matters. Good teachers do make a difference.

St. Patrick's Day

sparkleclover.gif

Feeling lucky today? Of course! Today is the day when everybody shares in the luck of the Irish. Ireland is a country with a rich history, although we mostly celebrate this day with a big party. That's fine with me. If you are looking for a tame way to share this holiday with your kids, prepare a meal of corn beef and cabbage. Turn the orange juice green with food dye. We always leave small treats out for our children and tell them they were left by a leprechaun. They don't have to be big. You can find chocolate gold coins in any party store and put out a jar of bubbles to bring outside.

Nosefrida The Snotsucker Nasal Aspirator

nose.jpg

As we approach allergy season in many parts of the country, I thought it might be helpful to revisit a useful, but gross way to help clear your baby's nasal passages. Parents insert the The Snotsucker Nasal Aspirator against the nostril, not inside, and use their own suction to remove the mucus. It may seem a little strange at first, but this is a safer and more sanitary method than traditional aspirator bulbs. Disposable filters are more hygienic and the entire aspirator is dish washer safe.
