Do you want to have a "green" baby?

There's been a lot of stories in the news lately about increases in allergies and other childhood ailments. It can be controversial. Are these increases really taking place or are we just doing a better job of documenting them? Still other people think there is no increase, we are just overreacting to what used to be considered a normal process of growing up. Who knows where the truth lies. A parent can only answer for their own child.

Lately, an increasing amount of parents are choosing to take a cautious route and purchase eco friendly baby products, top to bottom. Literally. You can buy earth friendly diapers from Seventh Generation. They are chlorine free, which means they are manufactured using a whitening process that prevents chlorinated hydrocarbons from harming the environment. However, you can expect the same comfort and performance from them as you as would from any other diaper brand. If you decide you want gentler soaps and lotions for your baby, you have many choices. There's California Baby Super Sensitive Shampoo and Body Wash which boasts that it contains no nuts, gluten, oat, soy or dairy. It's ideal for parents and babies with sensitive skin. Other choices include Dr. Bronner Castile Soap and Angel Baby Shampoo and Body Wash. Both products are chemical free and cruelty free.

Once you have your baby all clean and diapered, he'll need a place to sleep. Believe it or not, you can buy earth friendly co sleeper sheets. Like sheets from Arm's Reach, they are made from bamboo the earth's fastest growing plant.

Lastly, but maybe most importantly, your baby will need toys. Planet Happy Toys has improved on the old fashioned concept of toy blocks. These blocks are made from sustainably-harvested basswood and non-toxic inks. That means safe play for your little one for hours.

You can choose to go for it and surround your baby in organic, earth friendly materials or you can just take it one step at a time and pick the products that are right for you. This is not one size fits all. As long as you and your baby are happy and comfortable, then you will know that you have made the right choices.
