Have a Sunburn-Free Summer with a UV Protective Long-Sleeved Sunsuit

Thinking about going swimming as the weather gets warmer? Well, last year another mother told us about these great “sunsuits” that eliminate the need for constantly applying sunblock when you’re at the pool or beach. This High Tide Long-Sleeved Sunsuit is rated UPF 50+. It has a zippered front for easy access, and its made from a lightweight nylon/lycra material that is light, comfortable, and quick-drying. This sunsuit is available in sizes from 6-12 months all the way up to 6T.

SwaddleMe Traveler

swaddlemetraveler.jpg

This is something I wished I had when Andy was an infant. The SwaddleMe Traveler is perfect for car travel. Unlike the regular SwaddleMe, it has legs so that you can still strap your baby in to his car seat or stroller. If you need your baby to sleep when not in bed, this is perfect. It attaches with Velcro, is easy to open when you come inside to prevent overheating, and comes with a matching hat. It fits newborns 7 to 14 lbs.

The Curve Gate

curvegate.jpg

This is a great idea that we just discovered. The The Curve Gate by Safety 1st is a gate for the top or bottom of the stairs that provides a space for solid footing. If you're carrying your baby (or your baby, a basket of laundry, and two dozen other things), it's nice to know you won't fall down the stairs, so having that secure footing is ideal. The gate can expand up to 42 inches, has a visual indicator that it is securely locked, can be opened with one hand, and is hardware mounted.

Driveway Guard

9319-1.jpg

Andy has this annoying habit of always wanting to ride his tricycle out of the driveway and up the sidewalk. Since we have no good way of stopping him we usually end up going for a walk up the street whenever we go for a ride on the tricycle. I bet if we had this great Driveway Guard we’d be able to keep him in the driveway and be secure in the knowledge that he’d likely stay there. Well, at least he wouldn’t be able to ride his tricycle out of the driveway anyway. Gotta start somewhere.

Review: Personalized Placemats and Nametags from Olive Kids

Olive Kids Personalized Placemats

The folks over at Olive Kids sent over some their great personalized products the other day. We've had a chance to check them out and we wanted to tell you what we thought. We received a set of 5 placemats, and 2 personalizable nametags.

The placemats come in a wide variety of designs. We received "Out of This World", "Under Construction", "Wild Animals", "Game On", and "Pirates!". These placemats are so colorful and engaging, they instantly give Anderson something to study at every meal. The placemats are all 12"x18", and are made from a heavy laminate. When we're done with our meal, we've been putting them right into a sink full of soapy water, and they clean up in a snap. You could probably just give them a good wipe if they weren't too messy. They've been standing up well to the abuse we've given them. The laminate is so think that they're nearly impossible to bend, so we don't have to worry too much about Anderson destroying them.

These placemats would be great for big families. Since they're personalized, everybody knows exactly where they're spot is, and who's responsible for the big mess after dinner is over!

Olive Kids Personalized Nametags

We also received two personalized nametags. These nametags are made from the same heavy laminate as the placemats. So we know that they're nearly indestructible. They feature the same colorful designs, although in a smaller form. On the back is a place to write down your name, address, and phone number. Each nametag comes with a 9" lanyard, made from plastic. That wouldn't be my first choice, since i was able to break it with a strong yank. I would consider replacing the supplied lanyard with your own one made from a nice nylon rope or something like that. The lanyard lets you attach the nametag to your child's belongings. With a longer one you could even put it around an older child's neck, for the next time you go out to a crowded place.

Olive Kids makes a lot of great products. In addition to placemats and nametags, they personalize clocks, floor pillows, framed and unframed prints. They also carry lots of other products, including some great bedding and rugs. Be sure to check them out!

ReliaDose

reliadose.jpg

If your baby has been sick, you know how hard it can be to get him to take medicine. ReliaDose is a product that tries to make it a little easier. Basically, it is a bottle with a syringe inside. You fill the bottle with something the baby is used to drinking like formula or juice, and you fill the syringe appropriately with the medicine. The syringe goes inside the bottle, and as your baby drinks from it, you slowly push the syringe, so your baby drinks the medicine as well. I think this is a great idea. Obviously it would work best with a baby who is used to taking a bottle though, and you should check with your doctor first to make sure that the medicine and liquid can mix. This product was the winner of the 2007 JPMA Innovation Award, and I can see why! I wish we had this when Andy was first born!

Save 20% on Britax Car Seats

BritaxCarSeat.jpg

Right now there's a sale going on many Britax car seatsover at Amazon.com and many other places already. Ordinarily Britax sets the prices on all their car seats, and only lets retailers discount the seats a few times a year. And right now you can save 20% or more on lots of different models!

We've been using our Britax Decathlon for a while now and we couldn't be happier. Even though Andy is a large toddler now he still fits quite well, and even has room to spare. So, if you're in the market for a car seat, or will be soon, this is a great chance to buy a new Britax car seat.

Safe-Plate Decor Outlet Cover

safeplate.jpg

One of our biggest problems with outlet covers are when we use a plug on and off. We are sick of pulling the cover out (although our WedgEZ is a big help), and sometimes we forget to replace them. However, the Safe-Plate Decor Outlet Cover by Mommy's Helper seems to fix that problem. Whenever you unplug your appliance, the plate slides down into place, protecting your child from it. So there is no thought involved! There's also thermal seal insulation that helps make your home more energy efficient, it's easy to install, and it's available in both white and almond. We wish we'd seen these a long time ago, they are such a smart idea!

Baby B'Air Infant Flight Vest

p7092B.jpg

Traveling for the holidays? Well, it never even occurred to me, but if you travel with your young child on your lap, you could be putting him in danger if you encounter any violent turbulence. Why take the risk when you can get one of these Baby B'Air Infant Flight Vest. This vest is currently the only solution for lap held children who fly that is FAA approved for in-flight use. It works by securing your child to your lap belt. Your baby can now be held, fed and even changed while you both remain securely fastened in your seat.

Review: WedgEZ

using-WedgEZ-2.jpg

If you're like me and many other parents, you probably hate pulling out those little plastic outlet protectors every time your searching for a place to plug your vacuum in. Well, the folks over at WedgEZ have a great new product that will make that a lot easier, and they've sent us one to review.

The idea is simple enough. It's a curved plastic wedge that you stick behind the plastic outlet protector. Then you just twist the handle towards the wall and out pops the protector. It couldn't be any simpler than that. The handle has little brackets to attach it to the power cord of your vacuum cleaner, which is certainly a convenient place to keep it. And it fit the cords on both the vacuum cleaners in our house just fine.

The best part about the WedgEZ is the price. At $3.99 each, or 3 for $9.99, they're cheap enough to get several to keep in different places around the house. That way you'll never be prying out outlet protectors with your fingernails or the prongs on a plug again. And if it's easy to take the protectors out, you'll be more likely to put them back when you're done, keeping your exploring baby safe!

So, here at Super Cool Baby we definitely love the WedgEZ. In fact, we love it so much that its going to become part of our standard "new baby gift pack" that we've been giving to all of our expecting friends and family!

Teeny Towels

teenytowels.jpg

Here is a product I wish I'd known about sooner. Teeny Towels are wipes that come in a container that are easy to access and use to wipe off your child when you are out of the house. They come in two different versions, an Insect Repellent and Anti-Bacterial Wipes. I could really use the anti-bacterial ones for my car as I've wanted something like them countless of times. And if you don't want your child breathing in insect spray, there's nothing better than using a wipe. So easy! They can also be attached to your key chain. If only they made wipes with sun block too!

Baby Warma - Baby Wetsuit

Baby%20Warma%20Blue%20Pink%20so.jpg

Are you signed up for Water Babies this fall? Well, check out the Baby Warma from Konfidence USA. The Baby Warma is a baby wetsuit that will help keep your newborn warm in the water. Your baby can get cold in the water, even if the water feels nice and warm to you! Plus, the Warma gives you something non-slippery to keep a grip on, which is always helpful. The Baby Warma opens up flat, making it very easy to get on and off — no tugging anything up those pudgy little legs. Konfidence USA has a full line of child swimming products, and we'll be conducting an in-depth review of them next spring. So keep an eye out for it!

Take-Along Tether

takealongtether.jpg

Take-Along Tether is perfect for you if your child throws his sippy cup, pacifier, favorite stuffed animal, or anything else to the ground often enough to be problematic. It also doubles as a child tether to keep them from wandering off. We love multi-taskers in this household, so it sounds like a great idea. It's also small enough to fit into your diaper bag or love compartment. It comes in six different fabrics and can be easily cleaned in your washing machine.

Child Minder System

child-minder.jpg

There have been a lot of instances in the news lately about children dying in hot cars. It happens every summer, and it makes us sick. If this is a worry of yours, especially if you have someone else driving your child around, you may want to consider the Child Minder System. It is made up of a chest clip for the car seat and a key ring attachment. It notices and sets off an alarm when the driver walks more than ten feet away from the monitor. That way, it'd be hard to leave a child in a car accidently. It installs easily too. It's not compatible with a couple of car seats, so make sure to look into that on their website before buying though.
