Maclaren Easy Traveller Stroller

I saw this stroller when we were out shopping the other day, and it intrigued me. The Maclaren Easy Traveller Stroller is a compact, single-hand folding umbrella-type stroller. It features lockable swivel wheels, ergonomic handles, and a detachable bottle holder. It weighs in at a mere 10.6 pounds, so it would be easy to take in and out of a car. It fits a wide variety of car seats, including: Graco Snugride and Safe Seats, Peg Perego Primo Viaggio, Britax Companion and the Combi Tyro Infant Car Seat, Evenflo Discovery and Cosco Designer 22 and Eddie Baur Infant Car Seats.

Phil & Ted's Sport Buggy

p9991B.jpg

Your typical jogging stroller can take a little getting used to, since you usually have to pick up the front wheel in order to turn. However, with this Red Sport Buggy, you can change the front wheel from a fixed position to a smooth ride swivel wheel. The stroller itself has a lot of different positions, enabling your baby to go from lying down to sitting up. And there's even a kit to turn the stroller into a ride-behind double stroller. You'll definitely get a lot of use out of this one.

UPPA Baby Vista Stroller

image_1_color_1_bassinet.jpg

I just discovered this new stroller from UPPA Baby, and I really like it. In fact, if I were buying a new stroller this definitely be the one that I would get. It's got lots of great features like:

  • Easy one-step fold — with or without the seat attached
  • Includes both bassinet and seat — completely interchangeable and requires no fabric swapping
  • Reversible seat and 3 position seat angle adjustment
  • One button, telescopic handle-height adjustment
  • Rubber-coated tires that never go flat
  • Welded and formed aircraft aluminum alloy frame
  • Floating arch, "no kick" rear axle
  • Red/Green successful attachment indicators
  • Reversible pram mattress adjusts to cold or warm weather
  • Removable and machine washable fabric
  • Weather shield and mesh sunshade and bug cover included
  • Suitable from birth up to 40 lbs.

Seriously, this stroller has just about everything that I would want in a stroller. You can even get an attachment to make it comapatible with popular infant car seats.

Little One Sunshade Stroller Covers

strollersunshade.jpg

I really like the Little One Sunshade Stroller Covers because it is reversible. Depending on your mood, you can have one of two different patterns showing. If you take lots of walks and don't want your baby to burn while he's sleeping in the stroller, this may be a good product for you! It's available in 17 different color combinations.

Sports Stroller by Phil and Ted

philtedsportstroller.jpg

Recently I was in the market for a jogging stroller, so I tried out a cheap one. I hated it. Joggling strollers are hard to get used to because in order to turn you must lift it up off its front wheel. This is easier to do than with regular strollers, but Andy hated it. I just kept wishing the front wheel would turn. In order to find that feature, you must spend a large sum of money. However, if you think you'll use such a stroller, we recommend Phil and Ted's Sports Stroller. They have a bunch of great features that really impress us. First off, if you think you may have another child, they have a doubles kit so you can convert your stroller into a double and go back to a single as needed. Without this kit, there's still a drop down bassinet for your newborn so you can start using it immediately after your doctor gives you the okay to exercise. There's also an adjustable handle, adjustable restraints on both seats, two pockets, a window in the canopy, a cell phone pouch, locking straps to hold the stroller closed, and more. But what we like is that the front wheel can be swivel or fixed, so you have the choice. If you are walking through the woods on a curvy path, you can set the front wheel to swivel so you don't need to lift the front wheel. Put it to fixed when you are jogging on a bike path. I'm not sure if I'll be buying a jogging stroller, but if I do, this will definitely be the one!

Bugaboo Bee

23055_MID_l.jpg

I wish we had done a little more research when we were looking for a stroller. While I can't complain too much about the travel system we got, the sheer size of the stroller has always made it a little cumbersome. A lightweight stroller like the newly released Bugaboo Bee would've been perfect. This stroller is only 20 inches wide, so it's very travel and car friendly. And it has all sorts of neat features that are common to Bugaboo strollers. For example: the handlebar is reversible letting you lead with the swiveling wheels in crowded urban areas, and the large air-filled wheels on rough terrain. It has a reversible, fully reclining 3 position seat. And it has a pull-along 2-wheel position for going across sand and snow. Finally, for those of you with infants, you can buy special adaptors for Graco and Peg Perego car seats. The Bugaboo Bee is available in yellow, dark khaki, red, black, and blue.

Updated 3 Sept 2007: A commenter, Anne Marie, pointed out that we've got some facts wrong here! The tires are not air filled (they're foam filled), and it doesn't have the neat reversible handlebar that the Bugaboo Frog or Chameleon have. That being said, it does have a spring suspension, and is extraordinarily tiny. It is definitely suitable for crowded urban settings, and for those of us with small trunks.

Joovy Caboose Ultralight Stand-On Stoller

10-2752-01.jpg

Having a second (or third?) child, and looking for a new stroller? Check out the Joovy Caboose Ultralight Stand-On Stoller. Compatible with many infant car seats, this is actually a tandem stroller — when your older child needs a break from walking he can hop onto the special platform on the back of the stroller. The platform is located in front of the handle, so it won't be in your way. Attached to the handle is a neoprene organizer with room for keys, cell phone, etc. There's even a cup holder to keep a cool drink handy on those long summer walks. Finally, there is an extra-large canopy that provides protection on sunny days.

Mobi Stroller Bag

mobistrollerbag.jpg

One of my biggest problems when I take Andy for a walk is the diaper bag. I don't really want to bring my big diaper bag along when I'm staying in my neighborhood, but my regular purse doesn't really work for such a task. I think the Mobi Stroller Bag would be perfect for me. It has a fleece lined iPod/sunglasses pocket, five interior pockets, a double zipper opening, adjustable shoulder strap, stroller attachment, wipes case, changing pad, and is light weight. It'd be perfect for throwing over your shoulder as you head out the door for your walk!

Mama Board Stroller

mama_board.jpg

I totally love this idea. A skateboard attachment for your stroller. The Mama Board probably works best on jogging strollers, and you might want to stick to a bike path, but it just looks like it would be a whole lot of fun, doesn't it? Unfortunately, the manufacturer is German (and would you expect something whacky like this from anybody else?), so you may have a bit of a challenge if you want to get one for yourself. If you want to see it in action, be sure to check out these videos.

Quinny Buzz

quinnybuzz.jpg

The Quinny Buzz is an all-terrain stroller that has just become available in the United States. Already quite popular in Europe, this stroller is one you can use all throughout your child's life. There's the Dreami bassinet that attach to the stroller and works for up to 20lbs, and the seat has a three position recline and a super easy folding design. There's other great features like an adjustable foot rest, height adjustable parent handlebar, a seat that can face front of back (what I would give for my stroller to do this!), and a bunch more! It's available in black, juice, capri, and sulpher. The bassinet is available in capri, black, red and sulpher.

Joovy Cool Essentials Parent Organizer

joovycoolessentialsparentorganizer.jpg

The Joovy Cool Essentials Parent Organizer is perfect if you have a basic stroller without a place for your keys, sunglasses, drink, etc. The organizer includes a zip close pocket, lots of storage space, a cup holder that keeps beverages at the desired temperature, and three other pockets throughout. It slips onto the handle bar easily, and it's also washable. So if you're like me and bring everything you could possibly need with you when you go for a walk, this is a great product for you!

Cielo at Mia Modern

cielo.jpg

The Cielo seems to be the next big thing in strollers, so if you want the latest and greatest, you should definitely check it out. We love how much it folds, it will fit into anyone's car or home without a problem. There's a folding demo so you can see how small it actually gets. It does look like you might need two hands to fold it though. It also has a detachable storage bag, a one-touch brake, adjustable seat recline, five point harness, and is made of a lightweight aluminum frame. If you're in the market for a stroller, you should check this one out.

Review: Strollometer

strollometer1.jpg

I received the Strollometer for Christmas and was so excited. I first heard about it in October, and I knew it was for me. I have wanted to get into shape ever since I gave birth, but I just can't get myself to do my pilates video. Living up in Boston, it was hard to walk in January, and then once we moved to Charlotte I was just too overwhelmed to walk around our apartment complex. But now that we live in a house in a neighborhood, suddenly all I want to do is walk and explore! So I finally got out the Strollometer, had Peter install it (because yes, I am not the biggest feminist all the time), and I started using it. And I must say, I love love love this product!
