Fisher-Price Rainforest Nest 'n Play Animals

Here's a neat toy for babies, ages 4 to 6 months. The Fisher-Price Rainforest Nest 'n Play Animals is 3 nesting boxes each with a different animal, and a squeaking monkey that fits inside. Play "take and put" games with your infant. The largest box is a blue elephant with crinkle ears and tactile butterfly and flower. The medium-sized boxed is a lion with a soft mane. The smallest box is a zebra with a jingle.

Number Snail Puzzle at Wild Dill

numbersnailpuzzle.jpg

I've always been a fan of 3D puzzles, and there are a bunch at Wild Dill that are really cute. The Number Snail Puzzle is great because it can teach numbers and colors as the toddler learns to put it together. Some others I like include the T-Rex Puzzle and the Penguin Puzzle. Each puzzle is made of plantation grown, chemical free rubber wood and child safe paints. They are also fairly made in Asia.

Also, just for Super Cool Baby readers, get 15% off at Wild Dill with the code scb15 at check out.

Mobilo Arranging Game by Haba

You can use this Mobilo Arranging Game by Haba to teach your child about puzzles at an early age. It has 30 movable tiles, each vibrantly painted with images of trains, cars, helicopters, houses, and bustling city scenes. Your child will love arranging the blocks every which way to create stories and amusing pictures. The board itself is magnetized, and the game comes with magnetic strips that can be applied to the blocks. This will help keep things in place.

Baby Plays Toy Rental

Baby Plays Toy Rental

Sick of buying toys that your child hardly ever plays with? Well, BabyPlays has got a plan for you. Their pitch is:

BabyPlays recognizes that many parents want their children to experience the learning opportunity and skill development that comes though playing with a variety of toys. However, we also recognize that it is simply unnecessary to buy everything! Often times, a parent will purchase a toy for their child, only to find that within a few weeks or less the child is bored with that toy. Some parents respond to that boredom by purchasing yet more toys, soon to find out that they have a room full of toys that are no longer of interest to their child.

They've got a bunch of different plans: Silver, Gold, Gold Plus, and Platinum. Each gives you a different number of toys for the month (four, six, or ten), and requires a commitment of at least 3 months. Once you start, you set up a toy wishlist, and you'll receive your first shipment within a few days. Then you keep your toys for 30 days or longer. When you're ready for some fresh toys, simply place just the toys you want to return back in the original shipping box, tape it up and attache the prepaid shipping label. Once BabyPlays receives your shipment, they send the next batch out to you.

Their plans are a little on the expensive side, but they have a wide variety of toys for children from birth all the way up to 5 years. This would be a great way to sample lots of different toys, to find out the ones that your child will really play with for a long time. Then you don't have to have loads of toys in your house that nobody ever uses!

Colorful Stacking Cubes by Haba

habacolorfulstackingcubes.jpg

Haba has come out with some new stacking blocks that I think are totally adorable. The Colorful Stacking Cubes nest and stack. They have numbers on them to help teach counting, are in cute colors, and are even hand washable. Also, there are acrylic windwos that allow images to peek through, so you can hide something inside for them to find!

Doodlebook Picture Frame

Doodlebook Picture Frame

Here's a neat idea that I've never seen before. The Doodlebook Picture Frame is a frame the holds a 4x6" picture, but instead of regular frame, you get an 80 page pad of blank paper. You, or someone you know, can doodle a design for your own frame. Perhaps you could break out the crayons and have your child help you create a decorated frame for a picture of your child! I'd love to have something like this in my office, so Andy could decorate a new frame each time he came by for a visit.

Surprise your child with a Jack in the Box

Don't want to give your child a complex over clowns? Well, consider this dog. He's named Jack, and somebody stuffed him in this box. Crank the handle and he'll pop out to the melody of "Where, oh where, has my little dog gone." Quite a surprise and it's sure to delight your toddler. This Jack-in-the-box is a 6 inch cube, and is made for children 18 months and up.

Waddling Dachshund

waddlingdachshund.jpg

Dachshunds are my favorite dogs, so I am quite likely to give the Waddling Dachshund to someone as a baby gift. This pull toy has a very flexible body and can make really fast turns. It was crafted with hard wood and has a natural oil finish. If your baby wants to walk the dog, this is a great present for him or her.

Allegro Stacking Ball by Haba

habastackingball.jpg

If your baby likes balls and stacking toys, this is the best toy for him. The Allegro Stacking Ball by Haba is a soft ball that has four pieces that slide together on a soft, fabric rod. Some pieces have parts that will interest your baby too, such as a rattle or rustling foil. This will keep your little one interested for hours. I wish we had it when Andy was a little younger!

Camp in your living room with a play tent

PlayTent.jpg

Every kid needs a play tent — a place to play by themselves and no grown ups allowed! Well, this play tent by Lucy and Michael is a great example. When set up, it stands approximately 3 ½" high — plenty high for your preschooler. And it folds up and sets up in seconds. There's even a window built into to the back of the tent so kids can keep a look out (probably for those pesky cowboys). The item is heavy, but luckily every tent is shipped free so you don't have to pay extra shipping costs.

Twisted Sticker: Unique Stickers for Kids

TwistedSticker.png

Want some cool labels for cool kids? Twisted Sticker offers a line of unique create-your-own labels that would appeal to nearly every kid. While these might be better suited for your older kids, there are still plenty of pre-schoolers who would love them as well. You create your set of stickers by picking a graphic and a font. Then you tell them what you want to be printed, and before you know it a set of 50 labels is at your door step. These stickers are dishwasher and microwave save, so you can label all sorts of things. While you're there, be sure to check out their other offerings as well. They can do iron-on labels, shoe labels, and combinations thereof. I love 'em all. I think I might even get a set of the spice & canister labels once I get a new spice set!
